Curatorial note
APC ART is pleased to present an exceptional and highly important unique work by RETNA (Marquis Lewis), titled “Quadriptych II.” Executed in 2019 at the artist’s legendary Santa Fe Ave studio in Los Angeles, this work is comprised of four individual compositions forming a cohesive quadriptych. Each sheet measures approximately 24 × 18 inches (61 × 45.7 cm), rendered in black ink on wove paper — a raw, immediate, and deeply authentic medium that speaks directly to RETNA’s roots. RETNA is widely regarded as one of the most influential and recognizable artists to emerge from the contemporary and street art movements. Beginning as a member of the iconic MSK and AWR graffiti crews in Los Angeles, Marquis Lewis developed a visual language that has since become one of the most distinctive artistic signatures in the world.
