The work

Curatorial note

*APC ART is pleased to present “11.35: Golden Marilyn,” one of the most iconic and universally recognizable images in the history of contemporary art by legendary American Pop artist Andy Warhol.* *Originally conceived by Warhol during the height of the Pop Art movement, Marilyn Monroe became one of the artist’s most celebrated and enduring muses — transforming both celebrity culture and commercial imagery into fine art history.* *This example is a hand pulled silkscreen print on museum board published by Sunday B. Morning in 2011.* *The work measures approximately 36” x 36” and is hand numbered from the edition of 2,000 en verso in graphite pencil.* *Importantly, the reverse bears the blue ink “Published by Sunday B. Morning” stamp as well as the iconic “Fill in your own signature” / “Sign your name here” style stamp historically associated with Sunday B. Morning editions.* *For collectors unfamiliar with Sunday B. Morning, the publisher occupies a unique and historically important place within the broader Andy Warhol market.* *Sunday B. Morning originated from a group of silkscreen editions that trace their roots directly back to Warhol’s original printmaking production methods during the 1970s.* *The editions were initially produced using the same image screens, techniques, and visual compositions associated with Warhol’s studio practice.* *Over time, these works evolved into their own highly recognized and widely collected category within the Pop Art market.* *Importantly, Sunday B. Morning prints are not counterfeit works, nor are they attempts to deceive collectors into believing they are original Factory-signed Warhol editions.* *Rather, they are openly identified and intentionally marked as Sunday B. Morning editions through the publisher’s blue ink stamp on the reverse.* *Because of this transparency, Sunday B. Morning works have become highly collectible in their own right — particularly among collectors seeking large-scale, visually iconic Warhol imagery at accessible entry points compared to original signed Factory editions, which routinely command hundreds of thousands — and often millions — of dollars at auction.* *Collectors are especially drawn to these editions because they retain the visual impact, scale, and silkscreen process so closely associated with Warhol’s original Pop Art aesthetic.* *“Golden Marilyn” remains one of the most famous images ever created by Andy Warhol.* *The composition brilliantly captures Warhol’s fascination with fame, beauty, repetition, mortality, and mass media.* *Marilyn Monroe’s image became symbolic not only of Hollywood glamour, but also of the fleeting and manufactured nature of celebrity culture itself.* *The stark contrast between monochromatic grayscale portraiture and vivid red lips creates an image that feels simultaneously elegant, haunting, and instantly recognizable.* *Warhol’s Marilyn works remain among the most exhibited, published, and collected images in all of contemporary art.* *The oversized 36” x 36” presentation gives this work tremendous visual presence, allowing the composition to function as both an iconic cultural object and a highly decorative statement piece.* *Collectors continue to be drawn to Marilyn imagery because it transcends traditional art collecting categories — appealing equally to Pop Art collectors, interior designers, fashion collectors, music enthusiasts, and broader contemporary art audiences.* *Importantly, Sunday B. Morning Marilyn works have developed an increasingly strong collector following worldwide, particularly as original Warhol Marilyn silkscreens continue to achieve extraordinary auction prices well into the millions of dollars.* *This edition offers collectors an opportunity to own one of the most recognizable images in modern art history in a substantial and visually commanding format.* *The work remains in excellent condition.* *We are pleased to offer archival framing options for collectors seeking museum-quality presentation.* *The work is in hand and will ship immediately from the USA.* *An exceptionally iconic and timeless Pop Art image by one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.* *Proudly offered by APC ART.* *ATL. MIA. NYC. LA. PARIS. LONDON. TOKYO* Provenance Included with the work is a certificate of authenticity issued by Sunday B. Morning with their blind stamp.  Condition The work is in mint condition. We have stored the work flat, to archival standard(s) since 2011.
